Week of FEBRUARY 21, 2007:

Quote of the Week
“At her inauguration, Gov. Sarah Palin said, ‘We'll engage in safe development, and we'll show the way for the rest of the world - that we can be good stewards of God's green Earth. We haven't always done that.’ Those are very wise words. Stopping the Pebble Mine right now because the risks to God's green Earth far outweigh any benefits to Alaskans would be an excellent way to put that pledge into action.”

-Barbara Belknap, Former Chief of the Alaska Seafood Marketing Institute, in the Juneau Empire

By Ronald W. Thiessen
Northern Dynasty Website
February 20, 2007

February 20, 2007, Vancouver, BC – Ronald W. Thiessen, President and CEO of Northern Dynasty Minerals Ltd. (TSX Venture: NDM; AMEX: NAK) reports that a new mineral resource estimate has increased the inferred mineral resources in the Pebble East copper-gold-molybdenum deposit by nearly 90%, to 3.4 billion tones. The Pebble East deposit is contiguous to and deeper than the 4.1 billion tonne near surface Pebble West deposit and is higher grade. Geotechnical assessment has shown that Pebble East is amenable to low cost, bulk underground mining. The combined resources of the Pebble deposits constitute one of the most significant metal accumulations in the world. Northern Dynasty’s Pebble Project is located in southwestern Alaska on State land.

Conflicting answers
Governor not very clear about future home for habitat division
February 16, 2007

The governor’s legislative director says the administration is still thinking about what to do with Alaska’s habitat protection. Sarah Palin thinks about the issue; her answers this past week don’t match up.

Reader: Are ‘friends’ telling the truth?
By William Phillips
Letter to the Editor
Peninsula Clarion
February 15, 2007

The “friends” of the Pebble mine project, the Truth about Pebble, need to insist upon the whole truth and nothing but the truth from the mining companies. No more corporate newspeak and “Limbaughisms” – a kernel of truth lathered over with distortions and deceptions. No more denigrating opponents as spreading false information – especially for telling the truth about what Northern Dynasty has filed with the state of Alaska.
